CARASAN to be included in the exclusive Entertainment Weekly Oscar Party Celebrity Gift Baskets.
(PRWEB) February 27, 2007 -- Entertainment Weekly will celebrate the 2007 Academy Awards with its 13th Annual Oscar Party at Elaine's in New York City. While it is an honor for any company to have its products placed in the trendy VIP Goodie bags to be given out at the celebrity-studded party, Carasan has landed an exclusive spot in the uber trendy Entertainment Weekly Oscar Party Celebrity Gift Baskets. These are 40 coveted, customized upscale baskets that are hand delivered to the doorsteps of the entertainment industry's most influential personalities.
The product, selected by Flying Television, the public relations company throwing EW's legendary Oscar party is a one-of-a-kind eco-friendly retro style ring, which is part of a new jewelry line that Carasan is launching this season. Each piece (as are all products from Carasan's studio) has been hand crafted by the designers, Cassandra and Terri Rosenthal.
The new eco-friendly creations, that have been designed for this year's EW's Oscar gift baskets, are an example of the attention to detail Cassandra and Terri pay to their designs and the world around them. The new "Leah Ring" holds true to the family history and great women who have influenced Carasan. These pieces pay tribute to Cassandra's Grandmother Leah, and the fashion styles that she wore in the 50's and 60's; big, bold and beautiful. As with any Carasan design, there is a mix of the Victorian girl and the urban dwelling artist in choice of materials and style.
The rings are made of bamboo and vintage (circa 1900) French fine gold wire and silk embroidery thread. Each piece is hand crocheted by the designers and then hand embellished with beautiful freshwater and or cultured Pearls. In addition, there are Garnets, Jade, Hematite, Aventurine, Sandstone, Quartz Crystals, Carnelian, Blue Topaz and Swarovski Crystals to name only a few of the other gems that adorn each one-of-a-kind design.
The designers are also asking that the celebrities who receive these rings in their baskets send Carasan an image of that celebrity wearing the ring, or an image of the loved one to whom the celebrity may end up giving the ring. The designers will then make the celebrity an additional ring, which may be auctioned for the benefit of the celebrity's favorite charity.
If a sheer work of art is what comes to mind upon viewing any of the designs of Carasan, then you have called to mind a comparison that is not far from the truth, as the designers are inspired by art and nature in all that they create for their line. Staying true to their commitment of providing quality not quantity, Carasan will never be a mass-market company. Says Cassandra, "It is like buying art. Does your client buy original art, a limited edition lithograph or does she buy a mass-produced print? Our line is for free-spirited and self-assured women who are youthful at any age and want to wear high quality, one-of-a-kind designs." Their inspiration dates back to 1920's designers Erte and Fortuny. Offers Terri, "The Carasan line is one that transcends time. These are items you will want to pass down to your daughter. The Carasan woman is the soul of a Victorian socialite born into the body of an urban artist. She is a woman of today who wants fun, exciting clothing that will last season after season."
Carasan epitomizes today's young American Couture, transcending time with its authentic creations and looking back into history for inspiration, not just for their designs, but also how we all impact the world in which we live forever.
Terri and Cassandra Rosenthal are the mother-daughter design duo who are the faces behind this small, but internationally known label. When she could not find a job in New York City, after moving there to attend college, Cassandra asked her mother to go into business with her. They started Carasan Designs LLC when Cassandra was only 18 years old and had just begun attending classes at the Fashion Institute of Design in New York City. She has since graduated from F.I.T with honors, receiving her Bachelor's of Science degree. While attending college she fell in love with New York and made it not only her home but also, the home for Carasan, which is now based in Brooklyn. Terri holds down their studio at her southern home base at the family's small farm in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. You may also run into her while she commutes from West Virginia via the train to New York a few times a month.
Carasan's garments and one-of-a-kind jewelry have been worn by celebrities such as Tia Texada and Alysia Reiner. Since beginning operations in 2001, Carasan has been involved with the Golden Trailer Awards Show, has had placement in independent films, and has been seen in numerous magazines.
