Fun and Entertainment for the Entire Family

At Deer Valley there are lots of things to do, but Utah Olympic Park is a must see. It's just five miles from the Deer Valley ski area; this huge park was home to the 2002 Winter Olympic bobsled, luge, skeleton, and some ski jumping events. Though the Olympics are finished, this park still provides great fun and entertainment for the whole family whether it's winter or summer. Be sure to make this a stop on your Deer Valley vacation itinerary.

Utah Olympic Park is set in a beautiful location only a couple minutes from Deer Valley and has something for all kinds of people. During the winter months, individuals who are willing to pay the price can ride The Comet on the bobsled track used during the Olympics. This aggressive bobsled ride can get up to 80 mph and exerts 5Gs on the athletes. Once you get your helmet on you go down the track with 2 friends and a driver, achieving the 3 mile distance in under one minute. This is not for the weak, but it is an incredible experience for the adventurous soul. During the summer months, The Comet is equipped with wheels which gives it the ability to travel down a concrete track. This ride is not quite as extreme but still fun and less costly. A few other rides that are available for the daring summer visitor include 2 zip lines where you can zip high above the scenery at speeds up to 50 mph and the Quicksilver alpine slide. This slide is a relatively new addition to the park and provides fun and entertainment for children as young as three accompanied by an adult.

For those that don't feel a need for speed, there are plenty of other things to do that do not involve a seat belt or a harness. Just a couple paces from the parking area is the Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center inside of which are two museums. One gives tourists a nostalgic view of ski history and the 2002 Olympic Museum showcases pictures and other memories from the olympic games.

Visitors can also take a guided (or self-guided) tour of this park to see all of the facilities. In addition to the bobsled track, there are six Nordic ski jumps and other jumps for freestyle aerials. In the summer months you can see freestyle aerialists practicing their tricks and flips as they hurtle off a ski jump and plunge into a 750,000-gallon-pool. The practice pool is open in the summer to allow freestyle jumpers to perfect their skiing tricks.

Whether you're interested in experiencing a part of Olympic history, careening down the bobsled track at rapid speeds, or simply enjoying the beautiful scenery; Utah Olympic Park has something to offer everyone. Package deals can be obtained for guests who desire to participate in a combination of offered activities.
