Corey Ramey of Cool People Entertainment Introduces Atlanta to New Stars
(PRWEB) September 25, 2007 -- According to some, a star is born every year, but Atlanta filmmaker Corey Ramey introduces the birth of an ensemble cast in his second feature film, Sister Moon. After the success of Mary Proud, the first release from Cool People Entertainment, Corey blew the dust from Kirsten Person-Ramey's year 2000, Sister Moon script and went to work.
Newcomers Bianca M. Houston and Dalanski Robinson are just two of the stars featured in Ramey's, Sister Moon. Hailing from Flint, Michigan, Bianca M. Houston also known as "The Industry Crusher," was pleasantly surprised at the September 15th invitation only screening of the film, which chronicles the life of Ernestine Lenox (Syvonne) and her four mysterious daughters. "The story was just so different and all-inclusive of so many genres," states the young starlette-to-be, of the dramatic thriller. The entire project was truly a dream come true, offering newcomers a chance to shine in a major way. Like Bianca, Dalanski had never seen himself on the big screen before Sister Moon. In fact, he originally was hired in the sound department when director and co-star Kirsten Person-Ramey cast him opposite Rule Hollywood's Tara Wilson. The Alabama native states that the entire experience was "awesome," recalling several fond memories playing opposite such a beautiful and talented co-star in Tara Wilson.
Although the screening served as an introduction to some, as they viewed the onscreen talents of Corey Reese, Justin Traylor, Sherrie Shealey, comedians Dontee' Ray, and Lav Luv , Regina Strong, Lori Samuels and recording artist Wesley Cook, it was also a reunion for the four talented ladies who played the Lenox sisters (Tara Wilson, Shimone Woodberry, Bianca M. Houston, Kirsten). "On the first movie, I had a lot of talented people around me, but this time, those talented people actually helped carry the story," remarked director Person-Ramey, who also played Zuri Lenox. What a sensitive story it was. Initially, the director didn't even think the audience would take well to the story which alludes to the occult. "When my Pastor, Rodney Smith gave his blessings, I knew that others would understand where we were going with this story. It's a story about perception. Nothing more, nothing less." It was the story that attracted some 300 actors to audition, including Shimone Woodberry, who vowed in early 2006 to make a successful transition from the stage to film projects. It was also the innovative story that had the audience sitting on the edge of their seats, especially in Gwendolen McCloud's big finish, as "Camera Screens" by J. A. played! The movie also featured music by J Rice, Phoenix the Firestarter and the director herself in a duet with spoken word artist Chanel.
Ramey proudly made the bold statement that he is introducing new stars to the world as he dashed about at the screening of the movie with his four daughters Amaris, Aria, Anais, and newborn Aliya close by. Only time will tell just how far the Ramey duo can take this project, but according to both of them and executive producer, Shirley Person, "the sky is the limit!" The company is making plans to produce their 3rd feature in 2008.
